Are You Staying Engaged on LinkedIn?
By now, many of you are probably on LinkedIn. You have built your profile and done your best to make it as complete as possible. If not, review our previous blog post on getting started on LinkedIn. Once you are on, what do you do to stay engaged?
One of the easiest things you can do to be active on LinkedIn is to start sharing content. It can be as simple as reviewing your news feed and clicking the “share” button.
Here are some best practices to keep in mind when sharing articles on LinkedIn
- Be sure to share content that is appropriate for your network and best represents what you want to be known for and your brand.
- When you share an article from your news feed with your network of contacts, be sure to give the author of the article credit by tagging him/her in your post.
- Make a comment about the article you are posting. A comment is more impactful than just hitting “Like.” By commenting you will likely drive more traffic to your profile because a comment displays your picture next to your comment and depending on what you say it may prompt curious viewers to want to learn more about you.
- Keep the frequency of your postings in mind. Whether you post an update to your profile, like a post, make a comment or share an article, it all funnels to your networks’ news feeds. Be respectful of your network and what can be perceived as annoying to them. The fewer connections your contacts have the more your postings are going to fill up their news feed so you may want to alter your posting frequency.
Sharing articles on LinkedIn is a great way to increase your visibility. And the more visible you are, the more likely you will be considered for new opportunities. Start engaging on LinkedIn to take your career pursuits to a new level.
